Signature flies are designs and patterns that are available on a consistent basis with set prices and standardized materials / dimensions by hook size (If interested in reading the fascinating and enthralling process on how flies are tested for performance, check out Fly Design)

There are currently (3) Freshwater signature flies and (10) Saltwater signature flies designated by target species and fly action, with plans to expand the signature lineup down the line.

Although designated by water type and target species below, each fly can easily be fished for multiple species and in multiple environments. That’s totally up to you. Judgement free zone…except if you put ketchup on hot dogs. That I will judge.

Freshwater

Gas Powered Beaver

Based on the Hairy Fodder fly, the GPB takes advantage of spun rabbit fur and sili-legs for great movement in the water. This dog will hunt.

Target species: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass

Size: 1

Colors: crawfish, olive, bruise

$7

Ole Crawmaw

An iteration of many crawfish flies that came before it, most notably taking cues from the Nine Pound Hammer pattern, rabbit strip claws and custom UV reflective eyes provide great realism to this pattern. Estaz for subtle flash, and intentional weight distribution to imitate a fleeing mudbug. Booyah.

Target species: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, brown trout,

Size: 1

Colors: crawfish, bruise

Stanley’s Steamer

A ode to Matt Bennett’s innovative “Carp-It Bomb”, this deadly little fly maximizes the subtle movements of marabou with an inquisitive design that has the fly dashing and darting in the water and will keep you as busy as a one-legged man at an ass-kicking party.

Target species: largemouth bass, carp, bream and other panfish

Size: 4

Colors: rust / gold, olive / gold

Saltwater

CB’s Clouser Minnow

The Clouser Minnow is the undisputed #1 world-heavyweight belt holder of best fly pattern of all time. This is simply an attempt to recreate Bob’s groundbreaking design, nothing more. An ode to the king. This is not the greatest fly pattern in the world, no, it is only but a tribute.

Target species: fish

Sizes: 2, 1, 1/0, 2/0

Colors: white / chartreuse, white / olive, brown / brown

$6

Mr. Weebler

A fly tier's attempt at recreating the famed spoon lures of the salt baitcaster’s aresenal. Fortunately, MW does a solid emulation, relying on the weight distribution keyed on the dumbbell eyes in the back of the fly to push water in a side to side motion (rather than the typical “up and down”), creating the famed wobbling and fluttering action. It almost feels like cheating, but it’s not. I promise.

Target species: fish

Size: 1/0

Colors: gold, red

$8

Bayou Boudin

A deviation on one of the most famed redfish / speckled trout flies along the Gulf Coast - the Redfish Cracklin. It truly embodies the “imitation” approach to fly-tying, being nearly as reliable as WD-40 and a box wrench. The BB imitates a crab, shrimp, baitfish, or your mother in law - just depends on how you fish it.

Target species: redfish, speckled trout, sheepshead

Size: 1/0

Colors: purple / black, sand / olive, olive / tan

$8

CB’s Kwan

The Kwan remains one of the best producing coastal flies of all time, and for good reason - whether on the East Coast or the Gulf, the Kwan produces as a time-tested crab and shrimp looky-lou. This Cadillac version doesn’t include the premium liquor, but it does give some nice upgrades all the same. But yes, liquor would have been better.

Target species: striped bass, bluefish, redfish, snook

Size: 1

Colors: sand / blue, brown / camo, black / olive

$9

Shocked Cock

The best flies are often times the simplest, as is the case with the SC. A take on the famous “Electric Chicken” lures and flies created across Louisiana, with a small nod towards the mantra that you really cannot have too much flash in a salt fly. Or so they say. Whoever they are. Who are they? I’ve been hearing about them for years…either way, I believe in flash.

Target species: redfish, snook, speckled trout, sheepshead

Size: 2

Colors: rust, olive, gray, black, purple

$6

La Cucaracha

A rather vain attempt at combining elements from the Cockroach fly, traditional Floridian tarpon flies, and a Seaducer. Suspended near the top of the water column, the movement of the saddles and prominent eyes along with the palmered hackles give the impression of multiple backwater species. Watch it scurry up and scurry down.

Target species: fish

Size: 1/0

Colors: brown, white, chartreuse

CB’s Banger

Bob Popovics is one of the greatest fly tiers / designers of all time, and the Banger continues to be copied all over the world, including on this website. The topwater staple for anything that swims in the ocean, Bangers are a ton of fun to fish at for blitzing pelagics on top. And, they are also more aerodynamic for when you throw your entire rod / reel overboard after forgetting to strip-set for the 10th time on the morning.

Target species: fish

Size: 2/0

Colors: red / white, silver / black

Mos Crab Snack

Crab flies seems to only be Phlexos, which of course have their place, but are not the be all end all. Enter the MCS. Heavier weighted and designed with more movement through sili-legs and small rabbit fur highlights, the MCS crawls along the bottom or in the middle current of stronger water patterns with reliable orientation and enticing motion. I’m not a fish, but if I were, I would say that it looks and swims like a crab.

Target species: fish

Sizes: 4, 2

Colors: sand, olive

Philly Hoagie

Ignoring the mindset of simplicity, the PH throws “the works with everything on it” as they do at so many amazing south Philly delis. Polar fiber, flash, EP head, sili-legs, all the way - and the result is a big, deadly baitfish fly for big, deadly fish. Or you could catch nothing more than a good time and friendship, and isn’t that we’re all really fishing for? RIght guys? Right? Guys? Hello?

Target species: fish

Size: 1/0

Colors: sand / orange, brown / olive

$9

Truck Slide

Created to dip and slip along the bottom, this take on Tim Borski’s “Bunny Slider” is nearly bulletproof - taking advantage of jig hook orientation and heavy dumbbell eyes, the TS can be fished at variable speeds to imitate a variety of maritime snacks. I’m not even sure why I gave it this name to begin with a few years ago, but we’re too deep in the game now to change. Still makes no sense to me…

Target species: redfish, speckled trout, sheepshead

Size: 1

Colors: purple / tiger, sand / tiger, orange / olive
